What started as one of those picture-perfect Melbourne mornings quickly turned into something far more memorable. Rolling out under clear skies and warm sunshine, the vibe was high—good coffee, good company, and a stacked group ready to take on some of the best gravel Hurstbridge has to offer.
Not long into the ride, though, the script flipped. The clouds rolled in, the temperature dipped, and the rain followed. But instead of dampening spirits, it did the opposite. The conditions brought out that raw, unpredictable side of gravel riding—the kind that turns a standard loop into a proper story worth telling.
Mud-splattered kits, slick descents, and a few “did that just happen?” moments became part of the experience. Riders leaned into it, pushing through climbs, regrouping at key points, and sharing a few laughs (and probably a few choice words) along the way. That mix of challenge and camaraderie is exactly what these rides are all about.
Back at the finish, it wasn’t just about ticking off kilometres—it was about the shared effort. Coffee in hand, stories already being exaggerated, and that quiet sense of satisfaction you only get from earning it out on the bike.
Big thanks to everyone who showed up and embraced whatever the day threw at us. That’s what makes this community so strong.
We’ll be back at it soon with Pas Normal Studios and Bike Gallery—keep an eye out, because if this ride proved anything, it’s that the best days aren’t always the ones you plan for.
